No. I’ve never seen any data to back up the claims of computer glasses makers that computer screens are so much brighter than other lighting conditions, oftentimes different resolutions are needed for different tasks, your phone does a better job at making out text in poor light, or that glare is an issue while you’re staring at your phone all-day
Computer screens have definitely become brighter over time due to one significant improvement made by manufacturers. Even though it’s not yet possible for us to see each pixel individually on the screen – old CRT monitors were very good at this because they displayed every single dot on the screen brightly whereas LCD displays don’t – modern LCD panels can display greater brightness levels overall. For example, Apple’s MacBook Pro 17
