Consumption of fruit stickers is an activity with risks including choking, the possibility of ingesting the sticker itself or its adhesive, spilling or dropping the sticker on oneself or others, damage to furniture surfaces, and so on. For these reasons some public officials have responded to concerns by removing stickers from apples at their jurisdiction. However this strategy comes with an increased risk of spoilage due to loss of humidity if moistening straps are removed. Banning stickers altogether might not be a good idea either- there are reports indicating that kids enjoy ripping off fruit stickers for fun and then eat them because they taste good!
