They can be, but not all Rotties are the same.
A lot of people who want a dog for their family don’t think about what kind of lifestyle they have. If you live in an apartment one story up from the pavement, do not go out much after dark, and work a 9 to 5 job then a Rottie is less suitable for your family than say a Border Collie or Labradoodle which can get used to being indoors all day while you’re gone and only need 1-2 hours outside during your off but will still need regular walks once home…
