Pugs’ eyes don’t pop out as much as human eyes, because the human eye sockets are not as deep. In addition, humans have a softer bone around their eye sockets that pugs do not have.
How do you think you would look if your skin age? Probably wrinklier and paler from all those years hiding in caves. Humans also have a soft spongy layer at our points of articulation so we look less rigid than pugs who rely on a hard rubbery polygonal system of bones to provide them with structural support. Also, take note of the bony ridge above their nose which gives them space for an extra leaf or two up there, but that suffocates human noses with congestion issues…
