The largest living land mammals on earth take an average of 15 minutes to digest their food, and they move very slowly foraging for ground vegetation and leaves due to their low-crawling adaptations. It was this that led researchers to investigate if turtles also “shined” as they declined in numbers and there were almost none found on Caribbean beaches during the day, but an abundance at night which suggests these shy creatures like many other reptiles can adjust their body temperature by moving towards or away from heat sources – including the sun!…
