Despite overwhelming evidence of the dangers, our culture and Congress continue to purchase and consume large quantities of diet sodas, Kool-Aid type drinks, fruit juice drinks, or anything that’s canned or bottled in plastic containers. The Center for Disease Control reports 33% of adults are obese while health experts say obesity is the cause of about 30% of cancers. And yet our government allows no regulatory agencies to have jurisdiction over the foods available in vending machines at public schools.
There are challenges with regulating energy drink consumption among teens because it’s difficult to prove caffeine consumption causes them physical injury – not just depression. But there are too many risks for children who consume energy drinks because their stomachs are much smaller than adult stomachs
